As their placements come to an end our two most recent Erasmus Industrial Trainees, Baptiste and Valentin, provide insights on their time with Telemisis and offer advice to future trainees.

Why did you choose the Erasmus program?

My university encourages students to work in foreign countries. I chose the Erasmus program and Europe, mainly for economics reasons

How long is your placement with Telemisis?

Six months.

What is your role and responsibilities with Telemisis?

I was responsible for testing prototype device, and assisting with the development of testing documentation and processes. I was also tasked with analysing defects and suggesting design improvements.

What new skills have you learnt during your time at Telemisis?

I acquired knowledge on various domains during my researches for the projects. I learned very interesting things that may be useful in my career, but that are always good to know for personal applications.

General skills such as autonomy and project management also helped me in the realization of this work placement.

What is your favorite memory of your time at Telemisis?

Definitely when I received the first PCB, that I had spent time developing.

What advice would you give to other Erasmus students coming to Bristol?

Bristol is a fabulous place … enjoy your time here.

What advice would you give to other Erasmus students undertaking a placement with Telemisis?

Enjoy the opportunity.

Why did you choose the Erasmus program?

Mainly to improve my English and also to gain experience working in another country.

How long is your placement with Telemisis?

Six months, however Telemisis have offered me a contract extension, which I have accepted.

What is your role and responsibilities with Telemisis?

General software development, but my main area of responsibility was to update the test equipment to enable TankNode production testing.

What new skills have you learnt during your time at Telemisis?

I learned a number of new programming languages, including Python, Javascript, and MySQL.

Developing general skills, such as autonomy and project management, also helped me to be successful in my work placement.

What is your favorite memory of your time at Telemisis?

The team at Telemisis and very sociable. The last team dinner, was particularly memorable.

What advice would you give to other Erasmus students coming to Bristol?

Check the university societies and register before you arrive, you might find something that you like.

What advice would you give to other Erasmus students undertaking a placement with Telemisis?

Do not be afraid of speaking English and asking questions.
